Fair Lawn Diamond Jubilee Band: News
Winter Holiday Concert features Lew Archer! - November 12, 2008
The FLDJB is happy to welcome back our own Lew Archer as alto saxophone soloist. On our upcoming Winter Holiday Concert (12/16, 7:30 PM, TJ MIddle School) Mr. Archer will present a rarely-heard version of the familiar "Carnival of Venice". This rare version, arranged by Jules Demersseman and adapted by Herbert L. Clarke for band, has a contrasting minor "verse" and 6/8 feel that retains more of the sense of the original version of this classic folk song. None of our many "seasoned" players had heard or played this version before, and all loved it! Come out and hear it, and other "goodies"! (the other music is listed on our site under "Calendar")

FLDJB Features guest conductors! - October 9, 2007
In their season kick-off Autumn Concert (10/24/07), the FLDJB will feature two guest conductors: Anita Brown and Mike Iapicca. The reason for this is that "normal" FLDJB conductor MIke Christianson is a member of the pit orchestra for "Young Frankenstein: The Musical" on Broadway and is "locked in" during previews (he will, band willing, be back for the December concert).
Thus, Ms. Brown and Mr. Iapicca have been engaged to lead our fine musicians.
Anita Brown
http://www.anitabrownmusic.com/ is a composer and conductor of her own jazz orchestra as well as an experienced music educator. She has taught all secondary levels and is currently on the faculty of both Sarah Lawrence College and New Jersey City University. This is Ms. Brown's debut with the FLDJB (she has threatened to donate one of her original marches for us to play in December!).
MIke Iapicca is the Band Director at Brooklawn Middle School in Parsippany, NJ. He is currently studying for his Master's Degree at New Jersey City University where he is a conducting student of Mike Christianson. This is Mr. Iapicca's debut with the FLDJB.
Show up and cheer them on!
